Colored peppers for North America: a historical success for Zeraim Mexico

.

January 28, 2008

Have you ever thought of a plate of mixed Red, Yellow and Orange peppers? During the Expo Culiacan, which will take place on February 6th-9th, Zeraim Mexico will make this come true.

Jose Luis Gonzales Beristain, America Desk Manager: "Thanks to the vision of many, Zeraim Gedera started a development program in association with the Faculty of Agriculture at Rehovot, Israel, headed by Dr. Yoni Elkind".

Zeraim Gedera is engaged in the development of top quality hybrid vegetables and fruits worldwide. Attentive to its customers, the Company focuses on breeding California type peppers, ranging in size from small to extra-large and in a variety of colors. Zeraim Gedera's breeding program concentrates on adapting suitable varieties for growing in different regions around the globe.

Mr. Beristain: "Our focus is on developing pepper varieties which have good fruit setting under high temperature conditions during the early growth period, followed by winter conditions and through to the late winter when the fruit is ready for picking. Our varieties can be grown as bush with multiple stems or with 2-3 stems controlled by pruning. These varieties are vigorous, with high yield (up to 30% higher than their competitors) and are tolerant to TSWV, ToMV races 0,1,2,3 and 4".

Rita, Maria and Rosalia are the new generation varieties. Red at harvest, they all have special features such as early ripening, short internodes and TSWV tolerance.

For further details, you are welcome to visit our booth at Expo Culiacan, February 6th-9th, stand T29-T30
