Syngenta announced today that Dr David Lawrence, Head of
Global Research and Development, will be retiring from Syngenta
in April 2009. He will step down from the Executive Committee on
1 October 2008. From the same date, Dr Alejandro Aruffo (49) is
appointed to the Executive Committee to succeed Lawrence. Until
April, Aruffo and Lawrence will work closely together to ensure
a seamless transition.
At the Syngenta Annual General Meeting in April 2009, Dr Peter
Doyle, a founding member of the Board of Directors and Chairman
of the Science and Technology Advisory Board, will retire having
reached the statutory age limit of 70. Also at the 2009 Annual
General Meeting, the Board of Directors will propose to
shareholders that David Lawrence be appointed to the Board to
fill the vacancy created by Peter's retirement. This will enable
Syngenta to continue to benefit from David Lawrence’s extensive
experience.

Alejandro Aruffo joined Syngenta earlier this year from Abbott
Laboratories where he most recently served as Vice President,
Global Pharmaceutical Development. Prior to this position he
served as Vice President, Abbott Immunology R&D and President of
the Abbott Bioresearch Center. He also served in a number of
positions at Bristol-Myers Squibb. Alejandro Aruffo received
bachelor's degrees in Chemistry and Mathematics from the
University of Washington and a doctorate in Biophysics from
Harvard University.

à l’Executive Committee et propose que le titulaire sortant du
poste rejoigne le Conseil d’administration
Syngenta a annoncé aujourd’hui que
le Dr David Lawrence, Head of Global Research and Development,
quittera Syngenta en avril 2009. Il démissionnera de l’Executive
Committee le 1er octobre 2008. À cette même date, le Dr
Alejandro Aruffo (49 ans) rejoindra l’Executive Committee pour
succéder à Lawrence. Jusqu’au mois d’avril, Aruffo et Lawrence
travailleront en étroite collaboration pour garantir une
transition en douceur.
Ayant atteint la limite d’âge statutaire de 70 ans, le Dr Peter
Doyle, membre fondateur du Conseil d’administration et Président
du Science and Technology Advisory Board, prendra sa retraite en
avril 2009, lors de l’Assemblée générale annuelle de Syngenta. À
cette même Assemblée générale de 2009, le Conseil
d’administration proposera aux actionnaires de nommer David
Lawrence au Conseil, en remplacement de Peter. Cela permettra à
Syngenta de continuer à bénéficier de la vaste expérience de
David Lawrence.

Alejandro Aruffo a rejoint Syngenta en début d’année. Il nous
vient d’Abbott Laboratories, où il occupait le poste de Vice
Président Global Pharmaceutical Development. Préalablement, il a
été Vice-Président Abbott Immunology R&D et Président de
l’Abbott Bioresearch Center. Il a aussi assuré un certain nombre
de fonctions au sein de Bristol-Myers Squibb. Alejandro Aruffo a
obtenu des baccalauréats en chimie et en mathématique à
l’Université de Washington et un doctorat en biophysique à
l’Université de Harvard.

Bisheriger Leiter, Dr. David Lawrence, wird als neues
Verwaltungsratsmitglied vorgeschlagen
Syngenta hat heute bekannt
gegeben, dass Dr. David Lawrence, Leiter der weltweiten
Forschung und Entwicklung (F&E), im April 2009 in den Ruhestand
treten wird. Er wird per 1. Oktober 2008 aus der
Geschäftsleitung ausscheiden. Dr. Alejandro Aruffo (49) wird als
Nachfolger von Lawrence zum gleichen Datum in die
Geschäftsleitung berufen. Bis April werden Aruffo und Lawrence
eng miteinander zusammenarbeiten, um einen reibungslosen
Übergang zu gewährleisten.
An der Generalversammlung von Syngenta im April 2009 wird Dr.
Peter Doyle, Gründungsmitglied des Verwaltungsrats und
Vorsitzender des Science and Technology Advisory Board, nach
Erreichen der festgelegten Altersgrenze von 70 Jahren
zurücktreten. Ebenfalls an der Generalversammlung 2009 wird der
Verwaltungsrat den Aktionären die Ernennung von Dr. David
Lawrence in den Verwaltungsrat vorschlagen, um die durch die
Pensionierung von Peter Doyle entstandene Vakanz zu füllen. Dies
gibt Syngenta die Möglichkeit, weiterhin von der grossen
Erfahrung von Dr. Lawrence zu profitieren.

ihren Vorgängerunternehmen. Dave war im gesamten Spektrum der

von Syngenta wurde. In seiner Rolle als Leiter der
F&E-Organisation leistete er einen massgeblichen Beitrag zum
Erfolg von Syngenta.“
Dr. Alejandro Aruffo stiess in diesem Jahr zu Syngenta. Er war
zuvor bei Abbott Laboratories tätig, zuletzt als Vice President,
Global Pharmaceutical Development. Davor war er Vice President,
Abbott Immunology R&D und President des Abbott Bioresearch
Center. Darüber hinaus bekleidete er mehrere leitende Funktionen
bei Bristol-Myers Squibb. Dr. Aruffo besitzt einen Abschluss in
Chemie und Mathematik der University of Washington und einen
Doktortitel der Harvard University in Biophysik. |
