Southern Dong Nai province has
kicked start a project to build a centre for biotechnology
application research, with a total investment of 530 billion
VND.
The centre, built on 200 ha in Cam My district, with carry out
research on biotechnology application to produce high-quality
and high-yield plant and animal varieties. It will also apply
advanced biotechnologies in diagnoses of diseases and preventive
medicine, and environment protection, while helping create a
link between research establishments and farmers and businesses.
Initial infrastructure facilities of the centre are expected to
be completed in 2010 for the application of biotechnology in
creating plant and animal varieties.
By 2020, the centre will develop a number of biotechnology
businesses to provide products and services for local and
foreign markets.
The project is the first of its kind in Vietnam, paving a way
for the formation of a biotechnology urban area in the future.
The centre, when completed, will attract more than 10,000
scientists and technicians. |
