BioWorks announces VeriFlora approval for PlantShield HC biological fungicide

.

Victor, New York
September 9, 2008

BioWorks Inc. is pleased to announce that Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) has reviewed the company’s EPA registered biological fungicide PlantShield® HC and granted it a VeriFlora® Approved Input Material.

VeriFlora® is a sustainability certification program for plants and flowers. SCS recently expanded its VeriFlora® program to include approved materials manufacturers. BioWorks’ product, RootShield® Granules, was the first product to be approved under this expansion.

Like RootShield® Granules, PlantShield® HC is based on a beneficial, patented, hybrid fungus Trichoderma harzianum, strain T-22 that protects roots, stems and leaves from many pathogens. There have been extensive efficacy studies proving its effectiveness compared to traditional chemical products. Additionally, it is OMRI Listed and has a zero-hour restricted entry interval (REI), the lowest REI of all biological fungicides.

PlantShield® HC is labeled for indoor and outdoor root disease control on greenhouse and outdoor ornamentals, herbs and vegetables, and can be drenched into the soil for root rot protection or applied as a foliar spray to prevent Botrytis and mildews on ornamentals.

BioWorks, Inc., a privately held company, provides environmentally responsible, safe and cost-effective solutions to the horticulture industry.
