Trusted weed control solution
for corn, soybeans and dry beans, now has a lower application
rate
BASF Canada has received
regulatory approval for FRONTIER MAX – a new, concentrated
version of FRONTIER – for the 2009 growing season.
“At BASF, we recognize the value that our products bring to
growers and are continually researching ways to enhance existing
products to address farmers’ changing needs,” says Mike Bakker,
Corn and Bean Market Manager for BASF Canada. “FRONTIER MAX is a
great example of BASF keeping up with these needs. The
reformulated herbicide will continue to deliver the same high
standard of weed control growers have come to expect with
FRONTIER, but with a lower application rate.”
The new formulation of FRONTIER MAX contains a higher
concentration of active ingredient so that growers will only
need to apply FRONTIER MAX at an application rate of about 60
percent of the FRONTIER use rate to achieve the same level of
weed control as traditionally provided. Compared to the original
formulation of FRONTIER, FRONTIER MAX contains the resolved
isomer of dimethenamid – the active ingredient in both FRONTIER
and FRONTIER MAX. Excellent crop safety is also a key benefit of
FRONTIER MAX.
FRONTIER MAX controls weeds such as barnyard grass, Eastern
black nightshade, fall panicum, giant foxtail, green foxtail,
large crabgrass, old witch grass, redroot pigweed, smooth
crabgrass, yellow foxtail, and yellow nutsedge in both corn and
beans.
This herbicide also offers a wide application window in both
corn and beans, giving growers maximum flexibility. In corn,
FRONTIER MAX can be applied alone, pre-plant incorporated,
pre-emergence and early post-emergence. In soybeans, FRONTIER
MAX can be applied alone, pre-plant incorporated and
pre-emergence. And, depending on the grower’s weed spectrum,
when tank-mixed with MARKSMAN® FRONTIER MAX will provide
complete, season-long broadleaf and grass weed control in corn.
Finally, the new formulation also has the added benefit of being
freezable. “If FRONTIER MAX freezes during over-winter storage,
growers and retailers can be confident that it will maintain its
properties and weed control efficacy for use the following
season,” concludes Bakker.
