Siegers Seed Company announces changes in its product development department

Holland, Michigan
April 29, 2009

Siegers Seed Company recently promoted Karl Sauter (photo right) from Purchasing Manager to Manager of Product Development and Purchasing.

Karl has a Bachelors Degree in Vegetable Crop Production from Michigan State University, a Masters Degree in Plant Breeding from the University of Minnesota, and a well-rounded knowledge of customer service, marketing and purchasing. For the last 8 years Karl has been an integral part of meeting the grower’s evolving needs.

Karl explains, “We are looking to streamline--yet strengthen--our Product Development department to more efficiently identify superior genetics and then integrate them more quickly into our product offerings. This will be accomplished in part by the closer relationship between product development and purchasing, such that older varieties will be phased out in anticipation of better additions and the sales department will be provided with better information and support.”

“The seed business is changing with a continual movement toward ‘added value’ throughout the supply chain--from product development to the public’s table. The more we can learn about our products, the better we can serve our customers by providing them with the proper varieties for their markets, or by providing them with the right variety to open a new market.”

Jamie Scholten (photo left) is the primary product development associate and will continue, under Karl’s leadership, to offer superior service while strengthening Siegers position as a leader in this area.

Siegers Seed Company is a distributor of a full line of fine quality vegetable seeds, specially treated for commercial growers. Founded in the early 1900’s, Siegers Seed Company is dedicated to providing a superior product, backed by the highest levels of customer support available in the industry today.
