Nunhems announced today
that the company is implementing a new distribution strategy for
the US, Canada and Mexico to maximize value for the vegetable
seed industry and throughout the produce supply chain.
Currently, dealers and distributors make up the majority of
Nunhems’ customers. Under the new strategy, Nunhems plans to
collaborate with selected strategic dealers and key customers
directly.
Nunhems’ global business philosophy is to provide a service
beyond the seed. “It is about developing relationships and
collaborative opportunities while delivering the best possible
vegetable genetics,” explained Ko Remijnse, Nunhems’ Managing
Director of Marketing & Sales. “As a seed genetics company, we
invest a high percentage of our turnover into research and
development. Direct and open communication with our customers
will allow us to specifically address their needs when
developing new, value-added vegetable genetics.”
Nunhems has shared this new approach with their strategic
dealers and believes that they are an important part of the
company’s distribution strategy today and will continue to be in
the future. Keithly-Williams Seeds and Champion Seeds, two of
Nunhems’ strategic dealers, responded favorably. “We see Nunhems
as a leader in adapting to the change in the industry.
Congratulations on the out-of-the-box thinking and a very unique
strategy. We applaud Nunhems’ tenacity and courage," stated
Keithly-Williams Seeds Inc. General Manager Pat Cooley. Champion
Seed Company Mark Marshburn added, “The market is changing and
so are customers’ expectations. We are confident that this will
be a win-win for Champion, Nunhems, the industry and our
customers." Senior Managers from other strategic dealers such as
Stokes Seeds Ltd. and Siegers Seed Company Inc. also feel that
adapting our business models to changing market trends is very
important in todays’ market environment.
The new strategy will be implemented in April 2009. Nunhems
customers will be contacted shortly by Nunhems and their
partners for any further information. “We are excited to be able
to provide our customers a specialized, global approach, but
with local expertise. We are able to bring resources and value
to our customers that they may not have otherwise,” said Ron
Amarel, Nunhems’ Country Head USA and Managing Director of
Operations. “With strong customer relationships come successful
partnerships.”
