Again in 2008, championship corn
growers have proven what
Bayer CropScience
has known all along – Poncho® 250 and Poncho 1250 seed-applied
insecticides deliver the broad-spectrum protection needed for a
successful season.
Seven of eight first-place winners in the 2008 National Corn
Growers Association (NCGA) National Corn Yield Contest used
Poncho 250 or Poncho 1250 to help produce their award-winning
corn yields.
This trend continues the winning ways of NCGA yield contest
winners who have depended on Poncho. Poncho 250 or Poncho 1250
has been used by yield contest winners in numerous years past,
including seven of the nine in 2005 and all nine winners in 2006
and 2007.
The 2008 NCGA yield contest winners who used Poncho include:
Steve Albracht, of Hart, Texas, won in two 2008 categories: the
Ridge Till Irrigated category with his yield of 346.5204 bu/A
and the Irrigated category with his yield of 368.2742 bu/A.
Kip Cullers, of Purdy, Mo., won in the AA No Till/Strip Till
Non-Irrigated category with his yield of 320.8716 bu/A.
Henry Everman, of Dansville, N.Y., won in the A Non-Irrigated
category with his yield of 294.8977 bu/A.
David Hula, of Charles City, Va., won in the No Till/Strip Till
Irrigated category with his yield of 361.9252 bu/A.
Michael Kosinski, of Westfield, Mass., won in the Ridge Till
Non-Irrigated category with his yield of 294.2662 bu/A.
David Wolfskill, of Wernersville, Penn., won in the A No
Till/Strip Till Non-Irrigated category with his yield of 296.878
bu/A.
Each winner will receive $4,000 from Bayer CropScience for using
Poncho seed-applied insecticide. The prize checks will be
awarded at a special presentation slated for 10:45 a.m., Friday,
February 27, 2009, at the Bayer CropScience Internet Café
(outside the main entrance of the tradeshow) during the 2009
Commodity Classic in Grapevine, Texas.
With superior chemistry providing systemic and contact activity,
Poncho 250 and Poncho 1250 can help maximize potential vigor,
stands and yield. Poncho 250 provides early season protection
against damage caused by black cutworms, wireworms, white grubs,
seed corn maggots, grape colaspis, flea beetles, chinch bugs and
other corn seed and seedling insect pests. For broader spectrum
protection, Poncho 1250 also protects against damage caused by
corn rootworms and billbugs.
