OECD Seed Schemes
2009: Rules and Directions
-
This document
updates the OECD Seed Schemes. It replaces the
previous version, the “2008 OECD Seed Schemes”
(February 2008) and incorporates the technical
amendments agreed by the 2008 Annual Meeting, as
adopted by the Committee for Agriculture and the
OECD Council in November 2008.
-
The « 2009 »
edition reflects the admission of India and
Moldova to the OECD Seed Schemes, as approved by
the OECD Council in October 2008.
-
This edition also
includes the Council Notification for the
extension of participation for the Netherlands
to the Vegetable Scheme and for Kyrgyzstan to
the Grass and Legume Scheme. Moreover, it
includes the Council Notification of admission
of three new species to the Seed Schemes:
Nicotiana tabaccum (as requested by Bulgaria),
Trifolium spumosumm and Trifolium dasyurum (as
requested by Australia).
-
In July 2008, the
OECD Council decided to Delegate to the
Committee for Agriculture the Authority to
approve the technical amendments in annexes to
the OECD Codes and Schemes [C(2008)120].
-
Following this
decision, the Committee for Agriculture has
approved the following amendments to the Seed
Schemes: Adoption of the increases in seed lots
sizes [TAD/CA(2008)17], Revision of the
isolation distances for cotton seed
[TAD/CA(2008)28], Addition of the Definitions of
Varietal Purity and Identity [TAD/CA(2008)29]
and Amendment of two provisions of the
post-control Rules [TAD/CA(2008)30].
