Sakata announces the divestment of Sakata Ornamentals UK Ltd. in the United Kingdom

Sakata announces its divestment of the young plant production activity of Sakata Ornamentals UK Ltd., an ornamentals youngplant production company, based in Thirsk, UK, owned by European Sakata Holding SAS, based in Montpellier, France.

Under the terms of the deal, the activity of Sakata Ornamentals UK will be divested by Sakata by 1st August, 2009 and a new youngplant production company named Earley Ornamentals Ltd. will be formed under the ownership of Simon Earley, currently Managing Director of Sakata Ornamentals UK. Production operations will be continued in the Thirsk facilities by Earley Ornamentals Ltd, who will continue to supply high quality youngplants to the UK market.

Sakata’s market leading ornamentals genetics will continue to be a significant element of the youngplant assortment for Earley Ornamentals Ltd.

The deal enables Sakata to focus on its core business of breeding, and marketing premium ornamentals genetics and for the experienced youngplant production team of Earley Ornamentals Ltd. to continue the marketing and supply of quality youngplants. The UK seed distribution of Sakata genetics will continue as today however going forward via Earley Ornamentals and the known direct supply from our European logistic center in Denmark.
