Seedway sponsors Seed Farm program

SEEDWAY has become a sponsor of the Seed Farm program in Lehigh County Pennsylvania. The innovative agricultural incubator project was announced in March by Lehigh County Executives in Allentown, PA. The program is the first of its kind in Pennsylvania.

The Seed Farm program is designed to assist new farmers beginning a career in production agriculture. Six individuals have been selected for the inaugural season. Participants will engage in a three-year apprenticeship, combining classroom instruction and hands-on learning. Paired with a mentor farmer, participants are given access to land, equipment, an irrigation system, greenhouses and storage barns. SEEDWAY has comitted to a three-year term of sponsorship.

The program takes place at the Seem Seed Farm which has been owned by Lehigh County since 1974. The farm consists of 451 acres that have been preserved in perpetuity as farmland. The 25-acre agricultural incubator site includes cropland, irrigation ponds and greenhouses.
