RootShield WP biological fungicide from BioWords is approved for sale in California

.

Victor, New York
March 10, 2009

BioWorks is pleased to announce that RootShield® WP has been approved by the Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) for sale in California. RootShield WP, EPA registered in August 2008, is a new and improved formulation of their currently registered biological fungicide, PlantShield® HC.

With this enhanced wettable powder formulation, RootShield WP will not clog drip emitters, drip tape or irrigation booms. RootShield WP provides preventative control of major root diseases including Pythium, Fusarium, Rhizoctonia Thielaviopsis and Cylindrocladium by growing on roots, protecting them against damaging fungi. RootShield WP is registered for indoor and outdoor root disease control on greenhouse and outdoor ornamentals, herbs, and vegetables, and has a 0-hour Restricted Entry Interval (REI) - the lowest REI of all biological fungicides.

"California growers have been eagerly awaiting approval for this product," noted Matt Needham, BioWorks' western technical service manager. "The wide range of crops RootShield can be used on and its proven success in protecting against root rot, have lead to its high demand," he added.

BioWorks products are available from horticultural distributors across the country. Matthew Needham (209-351-1664) serves as BioWorks' representative for the western U.S. region.

BioWorks, Inc., a privately held company, provides environmentally responsible, safe and cost-effective solutions to the horticulture industry. BioWorks is a founding member of the BioPesticide Industry Alliance. For more information, please visit www.bioworksinc.com.
