Pakistan wants to benefit in the
field of agriculture and particularly in enhancing rice
production by employing Hybrid rice technology developed by an
expert from Hunan province, said Pakistans Ambassador to China,
Masood Khan. Pakistan largely benefited from the Hybrid rice
seeds developed by Professor Yuan Long Ping, who is popularly
known as Father of Hybrid Rice, said Ambassador Khan in an
interview published in Xiao Xiang Morning Herald.
In fact, Professor Yuan has co-operation with a Pakistans
private sector enterprise, Khan said, adding that the Hybrid
rice seeds provided by him has successfully grown in Pakistan.
We do hope that Professor Yuan may transfer the hybrid rice
technology to Pakistan in the near future, Khan noted. He also
expressed the desire of signing co-operative agreement with
Professor Yuan to enhance rice yield in Pakistan.
The Ambassador also said that he knows Professor Yuans
reputation long-time ago. He achieved a major scientific
breakthrough in breeding high-yielding hybrid rice varieties
that earned fame for him not only in Hunan and in China, but
also widely acknowledged around the world.
Regarding just concluded NPC and CPPCC sessions, Ambassador Khan
pointed out that these were very important meetings, as
decisions taken made at these two sessions will not only impact
China, but also leave positive influence world-wide. To
represent interests of 1.3 billion Chinese people is not an easy
thing to do, however, the NPC and CPPCC sessions have achieved a
lot in this regard.
On fighting extremism and terrorism in Pakistan, he said that
his country was pursuing a three pronged strategy also known as
3-Ds, that means to have dialogue with moderate militants, to
develop economy in the rural areas and to disarm the local
people. Regarding Sino-Pak co-operation in diverse areas, the
Ambassador also pointed out that in the past year, skyrocketing
price of crude oil and shortage of food have cast shadow on
Pakistans economy.
However, in that difficult time, China extended its valuable
assistance to Pakistan in terms of international payments. More
importantly, many Chinese investments have come to Pakistan in
the fields of infrastructure construction, energy,
telecommunication, coal-power plant, hydro-power plant and
railways. |
