BASF receives full California registration for Pageant fungicide - Broad-spectrum Pageant helps nursery and greenhouse growers control more ornamentals diseases than any other fungicide

Research Triangle Park, North CArolina
May 5, 2009

BASF Turf & Ornamentals today announced that Pageant™ fungicide received full state registration in California. Combining two fast-acting active ingredients – boscalid, an active ingredient newly registered for ornamentals, and pyraclostrobin, the active ingredient in Insignia® fungicide – Pageant gives growers more disease control with one application than any other registered fungicide.

“Growers everywhere are seeking competitive advantages, including those that help control input costs and boost profit margins,” said Dr. Toni Bucci, Business Manager, BASF Turf & Ornamentals. “With Pageant fungicide, growers are able to do more with one disease control application to positively impact their bottom line and produce healthier plants.”

As the ornamentals industry’s broadest spectrum foliar fungicide, Pageant has activity on all four classes of fungi and provides excellent control of pythopthora and downy mildew diseases. Its formula starts working within minutes of application, inhibiting fungal respiration at two separate sites within the mitochondria of fungal pathogens. In effect, it creates a “double lock-down” on the respiration and energy flow within targeted fungi.

Pageant is labeled for use in greenhouses, lathhouses and shadehouses, containers (bench, flats, plugs, pots), outdoor nurseries, retail nurseries, forest and conifer nurseries and plantations, golf courses, residential and commercial landscapes and interiorscapes.
