Pickseed Canada introduces outstanding silage hybrids
Lindsay, Ontario, Canada
September 10, 1999

Pickseed Canada, Inc. continues an outstanding record for introducing crop varieties that produce exceptional livestock feed with the introduction of PICKSEED's "EX" Silage Corn Hybrids - hybrids that contain the "LeafyTM "gene. The LeafyTM gene ensures the production of extra leaves above the ear - extra leaves that produce extra yield and improve the digestibility of the silage (since the leaves are at a juvenile stage of development at harvest).

ExSeed 2300 - 2400 CHU. Plant ExSeed in the earliest silage growing areas of Canada. ExSeed is a LeafyTM corn with soft, dent grain an-cFtonn-es- of production to exceed your expectations.
ExSile 2400 - 2500 CHU. Eastern Ontario, as well as many areas of Quebec and Atlantic Canada can now enjoy the benefit of LeafyTM corn. ExSile has the added bonus of some flint background, which enables it to grow under cooler, less corn friendly conditions than a pure dent corn. ExSile topped the 1998 Atlantic Canada trials with almost 20% higher yield than the competitors.
ExPound 2600 CHU. ExPound is a pure dent cross with LeafyTM production and added yield. ExPound will put extra pounds of milk in the pail or more meat on the carcass.
EXEL 2850 CHU. This tall and LeafyTm hybrid meets the needs of most livestock producers in Ontario. EXEL has the added trait of soft starch grain - grain that almost melts in the animal's stomach.
ExMax 3000 CHU. ExMax is a dual-purpose hybrid that averaged 224 bu/ac in 3 locations in 1998. This LeafyTm hybrid produces large cobs on strong stalks and soft, large kernels for easy digestibility.
