Pickseed Canada announce major wholesale department expansion

PICKSEED Canada Inc. is pleased to announce the following Wholesale Department organizational expansion:

Aly Veerman has joined PICKSEED in Winnipeg as Grower Services Support and will report to Grower Services Supervisor, Kurt Shmon. Aly is a former ABT Canada employee and she will be relocating to Winnipeg, Manitoba from St. Paul, Alberta. Aly’s duties will include all aspects of grower records including preparation of contracts, form 179’s, purchase orders, advances and settlement requests and reconciliation’s. In addition Aly will maintain records of field inspections, cleaning schedules, cleaning reports and summary reports to management.

Phil Bernardin has joined PICKSEED in Winnipeg as a Field Representative and will report to Grower Services Supervisor, Kurt Shmon. Phil is a graduate of the University of Manitoba with a major in Agronomy and prior to joining PICKSEED he was an Agronomist with Starbuck Coop. Phil will be monitoring, and advising growers, in Pickseed's grass and legume fields across Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Nathan Penner who is a Field Representative for PICKSEED and has been working from Winnipeg, Manitoba will be moving to Alberta to supervise our production fields in southern Alberta. Nathan will continue to report to Kurt Shmon, Grower Services Supervisor. Nathan has a degree in B.Sc. Agronomy.

Kurt Shmon has been promoted to the position of Grower Services Supervisor for Western Canada. Kurt has been with PICKSEED for 15 years and has been instrumental in the success of PICKSEED’s forage and turf production in Canada. Kurt will continue his contact with many key growers and will continue to report to the V.P. Wholesale Operations.

Gino Morrone has joined PICKSEED in Dawson Creek, British Columbia as Field Representative and processing supervisor for our recently acquired cleaning facility in Dawson Creek. Gino was employed with UGG for 10 years. Gino’s expertise is in buying, contracting, and processing Creeping Red Fescue. Gino reports to Randy Yaklin, Field Supervisor, Peace River District.

Randy Yaklin has assumed the responsibility for all production and grower services in the Peace River District of Northern Alberta and British Columbia. Randy has been responsible for a three fold increase in PICKSEED’s production in the Peace River District. Randy will continue to report to the V.P. Wholesale Operations. Randy has been with PICKSEED for 9 years.

Peter Craig, Mapleseed Sales Manager, will now report directly to Rob Clark, Chief Operating Officer. Peter spent 3 years with PICKSEED’s turf department before heading up the Mapleseed organization for 11 years, and has been responsible for an impressive growth rate in both sales and profitability.
