For the first time ever, growers
of high-quality bermudagrass can now selectively control problem
grass weeds such as crabgrass, sandbur, Johnsongrass and
vaseygrass in bermudagrass pastures and hay production meadows.
Plateau(R) herbicide, from BASF, is now registered for selective
grass and broadleaf weed control in bermudagrass pastures and
hay fields. This product selectively controls a broad range of
summer annual and perennial grasses, while providing residual
control for later flushes.
"For far too long, farmers and ranchers who grow high quality
bermudagrass had to accept grass weeds as a fact of life because
there were few control alternatives," said Mike Tweedy,
Marketing Manager for BASF. "That's not the case anymore.
Plateau will promote a purer stand of bermudagrass by
selectively controlling grass weeds."
Among the grass and sedge weeds that Plateau controls are large
crabgrass, rhizome and seedling Johnsongrass, sandbur, yellow
and purple nutsedge and broadleaf signalgrass.
In addition, Plateau(R) herbicide offers flexible application
timing to control summer annual or perennial weeds. Bermudagrass
growth will be suppressed after an application of Plateau,
however, the result will be a purer stand of high-quality
bermudagrass.
There are no grazing restrictions following application. There
is a 7-day haying restriction.
