Palmer Seed Co., Inc. (DPS), has announced the appointment of Jim Pooser
to the position of Director of Marketing, Domestic Sales.
Pooser brings to this new position many years of sales
experience in the vegetable seed business. Most recently, he represented D. Palmer Seed Co
in the Eastern Sales region. Prior to joining DPS, he represented Northrup King, Peto and
Sunseeds in the Southeast United States.
Pooser will be responsible for the management of the
company's salesmen, sales programs, product introduction, promotion & marketing
activities in Canada, USA and Mexico. HIs many years of experience in the vegetable seed
industry will be helpful to the company's dealer sales organization, in streamlining its
activities with the dealers and their sales force, making the DPS marketing program
stronger.
Jim, his wife Benil and son Matthew will reside in Yuma, and
Jim can be contacted through the D. Palmer Seed Co. office in Yuma, Arizona.
Duane Palmer has also announced that Ginger Day
has been appointed Assistant General Manager of D. palmer Seed Co., Inc., effective
January 1, 1999. Day has been with D. Palmer Seed Co. for over a year and has been
responsible for the financial activities of the company as well as being Office Manager
and Export Manager. Day brings to the company many years of experience in large company
infrastructure, personnel management and accounting.
In her new duties, Day will take a more active role in
overseeing the general operations of the company. She will be responsible for managing the
company's Yuma facilities, in addition to her retained duties.
Ginger and her husband Scott reside in the Yuma area. Ginger
can be contact through the company's Yuma office.
Duane Palmer has also announced the appointement of Dr.
Wilton P. Cook as Sales Manager, Southeast region. Dr. Cook brings to DPS vast
experience in the area of vegetable production in the Southeast. Dr. Cook recently retired
from Clemson University, where he was Extension Horticulturist for many years. Dr. Cook
advised growers and directed programs of vegetable crop production under the auspices of
Clemson University.
Bein well known in the region, Dr. Cook will bring to DPS the
ability to screen and develop varieties for the Southeastern US. He will also work with
the DPS dealers to increase sales in the area, which includes the states of Virginia,
Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississipi and the
Caribbean Islands.

Not included in Dr. Cook's area of responsibility is the
Vidalia onion, for which Onion Specialist buck Shuman, Reidsville, Georgia represents DPS.

In November, 1998, Adam Daily, Product Development Trainee, was
awarded the American Farmer Degree at the Annual Convention of the Future Farmers of
America in Kansas City. This is the highest award one can achieve in the FFA. We
congratulate Adam on his notable achievement and applaud him for his efforts and hard work
in reaching his goal. Adam plans to attend the University of Arizona next year, where he
will take his upper division courser in the field of horticulture. After he completes his
college courses, Adam will return to DPS to work in the Company's product development
department.
