Seed maker Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc. said today that Jerry Chicoine will become its president and chief executive officer after the completion of its merger with DuPont Co.

The merger was approved earlier Friday by Pioneer shareholders and is expected to close later in the day.

As previously announced, Chicoine is to succeed Charles Johnson, who will become a DuPont executive vice president and member of the office of DuPont CEO.

Chicoine will report to Richard Goodmanson, DuPont executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Chicoine was a member of the Pioneer board of directors and has served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Pioneer since 1997.
