Siegers Seed Company field day an outstanding success

August 16,  2001

Siegers Field Day 2001 gave growers a hands-on opportunity to see over 300 different varieties in 12 different specie groups. All the varieties were grown locally at the farms of 10 different trial cooperators, so growers could see how they performed close to home. Breeders, producers, brokers and university extension agents were also there so the growers could speak to them personally.

"Our objective was to provide a gathering place for knowledge," said Siegers. "We wanted to compare the attributes of standard versus new varieties, in order to find improvements that will benefit our growers."

Vegetables filled every available square inch of space.
Growers could touch, feel, taste and compare
many different varieties in each specie group!

Growers agreed that Siegers Seed Company surpassed their objective. "I never saw so many products in one place at one time," said one grower. "And most of them I've never heard of, but they look real good. I'm glad I came."

Siegers Seed Company attributes a large part of the success of their Field Day to their trial cooperators. "Our trial cooperators and the loyalty of our customers are what put us above the competition when it comes to being a full-service seed company," said Siegers.

Roy Pearman, director of sales and marketing, discusses the results of a watermelon trial with commercial growers from Indiana.

"With their help growing these demonstration trials in their commercial fields, we are able to find the best varieties adapted for the area. We provide knowledge of profitable variety programs, where others just sell seed."

Siegers Seed Company is a distributor of a full line of high quality vegetable seeds, specially treated for commercial growers. Founded in the early 1900's, Siegers Seed Company is dedicated to providing superior product, backed by the highest levels of customer support available in the industry today.
