Morgan Hill, California
September 7,  2001

Sunseeds Company, a world leader in the development, production and marketing of hybrid vegetable seed and seed technology, has hired Robert Korstanje as Director of Marketing and Sales. Korstanje, who brings a broad range of experience in the global agriculture and food industries to the position, will be based out of the company’s Morgan Hill, Calif. headquarters.

In his new position, Korstanje will be directing the company’s marketing and sales teams in promoting the Sunseeds brand, its products and services.

Korstanje, who was born and educated in The Netherlands, has held senior management positions in the U.S. and abroad. Prior to joining Sunseeds, Korstanje was employed as Senior Business Director for Global Innovation for The Kellogg Company, with focus on convenience foods and ready-to-eat cereals (RTEC). Prior to 1996, he spent 27 years with the Asgrow Seed Company where he held a number of senior management positions including Executive Director of Marketing/Sales for the Americas, President and General Manager of Bruinsma Seed Company in The Netherlands, Director of Asgrow’s foreign subsidiaries, Director of Worldwide Marketing and Director of Marketing/Sales for North America.

Korstanje said Sunseeds’ reputation as a world-class marketer of hybrid vegetable seeds such as processing and fresh market tomatoes, carrots and onions, and its successful expansion into other product lines such as cucurbits, peppers, cantaloupes, watermelons and melons, will be an asset in promoting the Sunseeds brand in the Americas. He hopes to use his expertise in working with producers, distributors and end users to further develop Sunseeds’ role in the food industry. Korstanje believes there are many opportunities for a research-driven company like Sunseeds to become an integral part of the food service industry and produce distribution channels in the 21st century by promoting the health/nutritional benefits and convenience of vegetables to the consumer.

Sunseeds is part of the Nunza B.V. group of companies, which markets the Nunhems brand throughout the world.
