Asclepias tuberosa
Applewood Seed
Butterfly Milkweed is native to southern Ontario as well as the central and eastern United States.

This hardy perennial grows to 36 inches and has deep, tuberous roots.

Flowers occur in large reddish-orange clusters in mid summer. These flowers produce large quantities of nectar that attracts butterflies.

Butterfly Milkweed is very dependable and long-lived once established. It prefers full sun and well-drained soils and can endure drought.
