Small shrub plant. Young plants are consumed as spinach, flower calyx used for syrup, jellies, fruits juice and jams.

Suitable for hot and humid climates, need abundant watering. Direct
sowing at a rate of 2-4 seeds per hole, or plant in nursery at the beginning of the rainy season, when seedlings reach 10 cm high. Sowing density: 40/60 cm on the row, 80 cm between rows.

Harvest the leaves all year-round.

Calyx produce after 4-5 month from transplant (around 20-30 days after flowering). Calyx is also used as dried.
