Changes associated with the ISTA journal 'Seed Science and Technology' (SST)

Bassersdorf, Switzerland
October 31, 2011

Dear Members and Colleagues

We are pleased to announce two changes associated with the ISTA journal Seed Science and Technology (SST).

Alison Powell agreed to be Chief Editor of SST from August 2010 for 15 months, as an interim measure until a new permanent Chief Editor could be appointed.

We have now appointed Dr Fiona Hay as the new Chief Editor of Seed Science and Technology. Fiona is well known for her research and publications in seed science and technology. She worked for 12 years as a scientist and Collection Studies Team Manager in the Seed Conservation Department of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, UK and is currently with the T. T. Chang Genetic Resources Center at IRRI in the Philippines.
We look forward to working with Fiona in her new role.

Secondly, we wish to draw the attention of members to a change in the scope of the journal to reflect the increased interest in seed quality as an important aspect of seed storage in gene banks and habitat regeneration.
The scope of SST is now the publication of 'original papers in all areas of seed quality and physiology as related to seed production, harvest, processing, sampling, storage, genetic conservation, habitat regeneration, distribution and testing.'

Yours sincerely,
Dr. Michael Muschick
Secretary General
International Seed Testing Association (ISTA)
