Meeting: Induced resistance in plants

Europe
March 7, 2013

Making the leap from success in the laboratory to success in the field will be the theme of the sixth meeting of the IOBC’s ‘Induced resistance in plants against insects and diseases’ working group.

The event is being jointly organised by the International Organisation for Biological and Integrated Control of Noxious Animals and Plants West Palaearctic Regional Section (IOBC-WPRS) and France’s National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) and takes place between June 10 and 13, 2013, on the campus of the University of Avignon in southern France.

The meetings of this working group are held every two years and are designed to foster exchanges between all professionals interested in induced resistance in plants to pests and diseases and in its potential use for Integrated Pest Management (IPM).

Organisers say this year’s meeting will cover traditional research themes of the working group, such as components of stress and defence signalling pathways priming for resistance, their interactions, and other aspects of defences induced by biotic or abiotic agents and beneficials, though particular emphasis will be placed on practical applications of fundamental research and on research needs to achieve successful exploitation of induced resistance in the field.
