KeyGene and the green gene revolution

keygene postdoc program2014 is a special year for KeyGene. The company celebrates its 25th anniversary. On this occassion, interesting articles about modern plant biotechnology have been written by various respected persons. In this first article, KeyGene’s CEO, Arjen van Tunen, shares his thoughts on KeyGene’s passion ‘the green geen revolution’.

“Agricultural production faces huge challenges for the future. The world has to generate almost twice as much food, feed, fiber, fuels, flowers and fun products by the year 2050 simply because of our growing and ageing world population. This increase of production has to be accomplished with a lower input of water, nutrients and land and with a lower impact on the environment. At the same time agricultural products need to be safe, healthy and appealing to our future customers”.
