Barenbrug is "Great in Grass". For decades,
our listed variety Baron was the single biggest bestseller
worldwide. Licenses to produce the seeds yielded good profits
all around: for growers, for intermediaries and for our
company.
Nowadays, our Pebble Beach line is considered
to be the ultimate in consumer turf blends. Barenbrug mixtures
are used on a great number of the golf courses around the
world. Of course, we take pride in supplying the "holy" grass
of the world’s oldest golf course, St Andrews in Scotland. And
we are also proud that our mixtures are used on the majority
of soccer grounds that host the European and World
championships. But we never forget where we came from:
providing seeds for forage grasses. We will still do this.
We are a seed business: research and
development, production and cleaning, strict quality control
and packaging, branding and marketing. We depend largely on
logistics and use Electronic Data Interface (EDI) systems to
facilitate order and delivery. It’s a very competitive
industry.
