The seed industry
in India has come a long way since the early sixties.
Today there are more than 400 companies conducting seed
business.
The industry is gradually moving towards seeds with
improved genetics,
i.e. from OP seeds to hybrids and, very
recently, with the approval of genetically modified
cotton, to transgenic seeds.
