What advantages
do funding partners derive from their association with the
SBC? |
 |
We view an
investment in the SBC as an investment in the future of the
seed industry. Economic studies have shown that over the past
50 years, investments in agricultural research have averaged a
return of 20% per year. The
nature of research is that you can't always predict what the
outcome will be, but the continuous application of scientific
investigation has yielded compounded benefits. By providing
the research infrastructure and access to UC faculty, the SBC
facilitates new discoveries and tools that will be the basis
of tomorrow's agriculture. At the same time, some of our
partners have large research programs of their own, and the
SBC's primary service to them is through our educational,
outreach and public service programs. With respect to specific
research projects, the cooperators will receive the benefit of
the knowledge gained or products developed. |
