Douglas J. Dorsey - Monsanto Company - USA

Take us 10 or 15 years into the future. What will the seed industry look
like? What roles will be played by the large players? What will be the function of medium and small players?
As a company, Monsanto views the future as full of opportunities for small,
medium and large seed companies and the industry as a whole. The sciences of biotechnology and genomics promise exciting new solutions for the agriculture industry and opportunities for forward-thinking seed companies to deliver them to their customers.

At Monsanto, we are working with our seed company licensees to understand how changes in the industry may impact their business down the road. Our integrated solutions business model provides growers with benefits because of its holistic approach, but for it to truly be successful we rely on the entire chain - including the support and expertise of seed dealers, because, as we all know, the seed dealer will play a critical role in delivering
solutions to the marketplace. Our customers demand and deserve a high level of service and support - and the dealer is an integral part of delivering it.

As I mentioned earlier, we are trying to be proactive with seed dealers and
work with our partners to educate them on future technologies. This way our
technology does not just land on them and they can truly adapt to the needs
of the industry and adopt new technologies in line with their customers' needs.
