What factors have
led to the launch of this venture? |
 |
Traditionally, wheat breeding has been a public sector
activity in Australia with very limited investment from
private companies. Wheat
breeding is moving into an era of significant change – driven
by commercial pressures and by pressures from investors, in
particular, the Grains Research and Development Corporation
(GRDC) to see enhanced outcomes from their investment in wheat
breeding. Changes in customer attitudes, new technology,
increased globalisation of the industry and the new
competitive landscape will further impose pressures on all
wheat breeding programs within Australia to act commercially. |
