Do you perceive
the expensive new technologies like genetic engineering as a
threat to your company's future or as an opportunity? |
 |
Yes, I
recognize technologies that are beyond our budget as a long
term threat. Hollar Seeds serves many of the major markets,
not just the niches. When better products are developed for
these markets, if they aren't ours, we will lose those
markets. Crusading against
GMO's is not an opportunity for us because scientifically we
see no reason to do so. Nor do we plan to grow our seed
organically.
In the short term, we have a great
opportunity, as we are able to provide quality products at
good values. We are working to increase our business in medium
sized markets and niche areas. For that matter, our only
product, cucurbits, is a niche. While our company will never
feed the world, we are happily developing many diverse, fun,
nutritious products with growers and consumers in mind.
