Drew KINDER - President - American Seed Trade Association February 2002
How do recent developments in the global seed industry impact seed companies and seed trade in your country?
The future of world food production is less about shipping boatloads of grain from port to port and more about exporting improved seed that enables local farmers to produce local crops to feed local populations.

The promise of agricultural biotechnology includes the ability to solve production problems for farmers all over the world. The delivery package for those solutions is the seed.

Our challenge at ASTA is to foster an international regulatory system that allows the free movement of seed across local, state, and international borders. It is not an easy task, but we will ultimately prevail as benefits and safety of agricultural biotechnology are clearly recognized.
