Where do you
see the seed industry going
in the next 5 to 10 years? |
 |
I envision a continuance of the Golden
Age of Seed, where solutions are developed for almost every
problem of every farmer on every continent. It will be an
exciting time, one when cooperation and professionalism will
be the essential elements of successful business plans.
I also see a future where independent
seed companies play an increasingly important role. There will
be endless opportunities to bring new biotech products to
market. Intellectual property owners will seek the cooperation
of successful seed companies that specialize in new product
development. The non-biotech consumer will underwrite a
profitable alternative market that demands high quality
non-biotech seed production and identity preservation and
traceability all the way to the supermarket shelf. U.S.
farmers can and will serve as the organic breadbasket of the
world, while simultaneously leading the world in biotech crop
production. |
