Dr. Marco Nardi - Italian Seed Trade Association

April 2003

What do you personally see as the main challenges for the Italian seed companies in the next few years?
First of all, I think that Italian seed companies are extremely skilled, flexible and professional in seed multiplication and production. The further improvement of the seed quality is, in my opinion, one of the aims to be still pursued with firm belief.

Then, we experience an increasing interest towards the typical Italian varieties, particularly in the vegetable field, that follows the expanding curiosity for and knowledge of our culture, traditions and cuisine.

Furthermore, I see the Italian companies as important partners for the marketing of high quality seed products, to which the Italian farmers are very interested and receptive. Italy is also a natural landmark for all the countries of the Mediterranean area.
