Research/Breeding Technician

Location: Hollister, California, USA

Vilmorin, subsidiary of Limagrain (6000 employees) is one of the leading companies in the vegetable seeds sector dedicated to professionals. Our Headquarter is based in France near Angers and through our subsidiaries and activities in breeding, sales and production our presence is worldwide and our positions international.

We are seeking a Research/Breeding Technician to reinforce our team at our Research facilities in Hollister.

Main missions:

  • Assisting the carrot breeder in all aspects of the breeding program, including, but not limited to planting, harvesting, setting up pollination cages, working with and around insects used in plant pollination, seed cleaning, seed disinfection, etc.
  • Trial data collection
  • Supervision of temporary workers
  • Assisting with research projects on other crops of interest.

Applicant Profile:

  • Associate’s degree in agriculture or related field (B.S. in agronomy, horticulture or similar preferred).
  • Previous experience with horticultural crops and field research desired (gained either in college or industry)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good physical condition as the post involves lifting heavy weights, working outside through all seasons, and contact with agricultural chemicals
  • Must have a valid California driving license (or the ability to obtain one), and be authorized to work in U.S.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

This position requires frequent travel to carrot production areas.
