We are seeking a highly motivated individual for our Seed Technology Co-op role from January-June 2010.
The Co-op will be responsible for feasibility studies of Plant Growth Regulators seed treatment on vegetables seeds. This is an excellent opportunity to work with leading edge technology and talented cross functional scientists seeking to deliver the very best vegetable seed technologies.
Primary responsibilities are:
- Keep accurate records of all data collected and buffers and other duties as assigned
- Plan, schedule, evaluate, analyze and interpret results of seed treatment experiments
- Regulatory adherence and compliance to state and federal laws governing seed treatments on vegetables seeds
- Perform a variety of laboratory functions including preparation of media
- Frequent reporting on research activities to his/her supervisor
- This position reports to the Global Seed Technology Lead
- Actively participate in ESH programs on site

Required Skills/Experience:
- Student must be currently enrolled in school and have completed their Junior year of school in a B.S degree program, or pursuing an M.Sc. degree in a plant science, plant physiology or related discipline
- Student must be able to take off a semester from January - June 2010
- Familiar with crop protection and seed treatments
- Computer skills related to data acquisition and analysis
- Firm knowledge of seed/plant physiology and the Scientific Method
- Detail-oriented with the ability to balance multiple tasks
- High degree of initiative in resolving problems and developing recommendations with the ability to meet required deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
Co-op Benefits
Co-ops are paid a bi-weekly salary that is determined based upon the degree program and year of completion in school.
You will be reimbursed for your travel to and from the work site (one round trip) at standard mileage rates or one round trip coach ticket.
Housing assistance is available for students if there are at least 50 miles between your permanent residence or school residence from the work site location.
For co-op students (working > 5 1/2 months) you are eligible for reimbursement for a single course during your co-op term with us.
