Assistant Breeder, Watermelon

Location: Bangalore, Karnataka, India

This position would be located in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.

Primary purpose of the Job would be that together with the Breeder give direction to the breeding program in designing and executing the process of continuous variety creation and development for specific market segments allowing a short time-to-market and within the budget set for the breeding program in order to develop commercially successful varieties and to produce sufficient, high quality stock seed of parental lines/varieties.

Applicant would also be responsible for Designing and planning and after approval of the Breeder, implement, execute, evaluate, analyze, interpret and document autonomously breeding trials and their results in line with the breeding plan. He/She will be responsible for coordinating and communicating the breeding program activities to the technical assistant(s) and the crop technicians within the breeding team and provide them with technical advice in order to meet agreed standards, time planning and budgets.
M.Sc. (Ag) in Plant Breeding & Genetics or Horticulture (with Vegetable breeding as major) with 1-2 years of relevant research experience in the crop Or B.Sc. in Agriculture or Horticulture with 2-4 years of experience in seed industry or public institution.
