Seed Sales Specialist

Location: Arvada, Colorado, USA

Applewood Seed Co., established in 1965, produces and distributes wildflower, garden flower, native grass and herb seeds domestically and internationally. The company is committed to a high standard of quality in product and people and we know that our people are our most important resource.

We currently have an opportunity available for a full-time Seed Sales Specialist to provide our customers with the best sales experience we can offer.

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of five years of sales experience. The right person must be able to multi-task effectively, accurately and learn quickly. You must have working knowledge of basic Microsoft Office applications, Microsoft CRM and must be able to work independently. The ideal candidate will contribute to the development of the department and company and be able to recognize, initiate and lead improvement activities. This position requires considerable initiative, judgment, tact, and discretion.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Work with President and General Manager to establish directions and sales goals for marketing activities
  • Accountable for meeting established sales goals
  • Execute marketing activities, following up with established customers and contact potential new customers
  • Maintain CRM software and document interaction with your leads and customer base
  • Compose follow up correspondence and emails with customers and prospects
  • Answer incoming phone calls and e-mail inquiries
  • Sell, give quotations, prepare and submit bids, complete RFQ’s, generate and follow up on quotes and orders
  • Responsible for generating and overseeing the generation of paperwork for international or domestic shipments
  • Travel to, set up, exhibit and sell at trade shows or conferences. This will require international as well as domestic travel. Must be able to travel a minimum of 10% of the time
  • Prepare reports that detail the significant events during travel away from the office
  • Attend local meetings and conferences as requested
  • Visit and sell to key accounts and prospective customers
  • Responsible for maintaining overall sales margin on all sales
  • Maintain scheduled email correspondence and telephone contact with your customer base
  • Responsible for some purchasing and generating purchase orders
  • Accountable for knowing all functions of software applications related to performing your job
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

  • College degree in agronomy, horticulture, botany or related science preferred
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in sales
  • Excellent planning, organizational, deductive reasoning and multi-tasking skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, CRM and general computer skills
  • Ability to consistently produce high-quality work
  • Capable of working as part of a team as well as independently
