We are seeking at the earliest opportunity a
Research Associate/Plant Molecular Biologist (m/f)
on a full-time basis, initially for a two year fixed-term contract.

In the course of a two year research project you will work in the maize molecular breeding team of KWS in Einbeck, Germany.

• The opportunity to work in an innovative molecular breeding program with application of new OMICs-technologies in maize, sorghum, oilseed rape and sunflower
• Evaluation of OMICs-/NGS-experiments in close collaboration with breeders and researchers
• OMICs-/NGS-data analysis, -processing and -integration in close collaboration with a team of bioinformaticians
• Contribution to the tool- and database development for OMICs data processing and integration
• Reference based and de novo assemblies in maize, sorghum, oilseed rape and sunflower of NGS data and further processing
• Visiting international conferences
• Getting member of an international team of plant breeders and researchers

Your profile:

• PhD or equivalent degree in Bioinformatics or Computational Science; desirable in Plant Science
• Scientific and practical experience in the field of evaluation of OMICs/NGS-technologies in plants
• Scientific and practical experience in programming in R, Python or Java
• Advanced skills in relevant molecular OMICs-techniques, bioinformatics and biostatistics are required
• Knowledge in Plant Genetics and Breeding as well as Plant Physiology would be an asset
• Fluent English and basic German skills
• Excellent team player and communication skills
• Attendance for travelling
