Seed Processing Supervisor

Location: Woodland, California, USA

Position Summary:

Responsible for all seed processing activities, including disinfection, drying, cleaning, conditioning and sizing.
Works closely with the Production, Warehouse, Quality Assurance, Inventory and Sales Departments scheduling processing, reporting results and recommending processing actions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all processing activities and insure work is completed in a safe and timely manner.
  • Develop and implement processing techniques to improve and accommodate delivery, consistency, quantity and quality.
  • Activities include (but are not limited to) any of the processes in operations related to Seed Processing and Conditioning which includes: cleaning, sizing, treating, disinfecting, drying and sampling activities.
  • Supervise and direct processing employee(s).
  • Create and process work orders with accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate records of all processing equipment and activities.
  • Evaluate and determine best processing technique to improve seed lot quality.
  • Clean, service and maintain all processing equipment.
  • Communicate processing schedule and results to Warehouse, Quality Assurance, Inventory Manager, Sales and Production Departments.
  • Adhere to and maintain good housekeeping practices for all assigned areas.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent command of the English language (written and spoken).
  • Decisive, good planner/organizer, innovative, team player, hands-on mentality and flexible.
  • Analytical and reasoning abilities. • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient in using e-mail. • Attention to detail, a must.
  • Ability to operate and maintain seed processing equipment.
  • Spanish speaking not required but a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work shifts and/or some Saturdays as required.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Valid California Driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Maintain a valid Qualified Applicator’s Certificate or higher or the ability to obtain one within 12 months.

Education/Experience:

  • 2 to 5 years’ experience in seed processing.
  • High School Diploma or GED
