Renee's Garden is an established, upscale, wholesale garden seed packet company. Our wide range of garden flower, gourmet vegetable and culinary herb seeds are sold to independent garden centers in the US and Canada and we have an active consumer web site at www.reneesgarden.com.

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager at our company headquarters in Felton, California.

This position works closely with the company owner, our warehouse manager in Colorado and our trial garden manager and accounting staff in Felton.

Must be organized, pay great attention to details, and have excellent oral and written communication skills. Microsoft Office experience is necessary, and Excel is used extensively.

This is a full-time, salary position.

Some travel is required.

Specific job responsibilities include:

• Develop and maintain excellent vendor relationships. Constantly building knowledge base of the seed industry. 
• Determine inventory needs for each season. Calculate ordering requirements for seeds, packets, specialty products and display racks. 
• Request pricing, negotiate and place orders with vendors for seeds, packets, racks and other products. 
• Manage inventory database, i.e. create assemblies, item numbers, etc.
• Approve and match invoices for all orders and update database as needed. 
• Work with trial garden manager to order samples as needed and update database for second seed sources and alternative varieties.
• Manage inventory allocation, reuse and disposal.
• Attend seed industry conference (ASTA) in January and various vendor field trials throughout the year as appropriate. Summarize and create action plans from visits.
• Travel to Colorado 2-3 times per year to meet with warehouse manager and staff and participate in annual inventory process.
