Located in St-Césaire QC, Semences Prograin Inc. is a leader in soybean breeding activities, processing, and exporting. Semences Prograin inc, was founded in 1980 and has now grown to medium/large company with 60 employees. Recognized for its research and innovation, specifically in developing early maturing soybean varieties with high protein. PRINCIPAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Choose genotypes for crossing;
• Schedule and perform the greenhouse and growth chamber crossings;
• Search for new technologies to develop opportunities in various markets;
• Plan/Organize markers to use on varieties with specialty traits in order to validate its presence in collaboration with the genotyping project manager;
• Single plant and variety selections in various stages of the program;
• Perform statistical analysis and create reports on all the field trials and their validation;
• Select/Organize varieties to be tested in various countries across the world based on growing conditions and geographical specifics;
• Select/Organize varieties and manage the logistics for winter nurseries;
• Manage all breeder seed production, including registration with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and certification with the Canadian Seed Growers Association;
• Coordinate and organize tasks to perform in the field for planting, harvesting and also laboratory tasks with appropriate personnel;

REQUIREMENTS:

• Master’s degree in plant genetic;
• Very good skills with computers/software/database (Excel, Access, Word ...)
• Interest in staff management;
• Bilingual (English and French);
• Very good dexterity, stamina, and thoroughness.

Assistant Sélectionneur de soya

PRINCIPALES TÂCHES ET RESPONSABILITÉS :

• Choisir les parents pour les croisements;
• Planifier les croisements en serre et en chambre de croissance;
• Rechercher de nouveaux traits permettant de développer de nouveaux marchés;
• Planifier, en collaboration avec la chargée de projet au génotypage, les marqueurs à utiliser sur les lignées en développement dans le but de valider la présence des traits recherchés;
• Faire la sélection des populations et des lignées;
• Faire les analyses statistiques et les rapports de tous les essais aux champs ainsi que leurs validations;
• Faire la liste des lignées à tester dans les pays identifiés; 
• Choisir les lignées à envoyer en Amérique du Sud pour faire une contre-saison;
• S’occuper de la production de la semence du sélectionneur et de sa certification;
• Faire l’enregistrement des nouvelles variétés auprès de l’Agence canadienne d’inspection des aliments;
• Coordonner et organiser le travail aux champs pour les semis, les récoltes et en laboratoire avec l’équipe en place.

EXIGENCES :

• Maîtrise en amélioration génétique des plantes;
• Très bonne habileté avec les systèmes informatiques (Excel, Access…);
• Compétence dans la gestion de personnel ou intérêt pour la gestion du personnel;
• Bilingue (anglais et français);
• Très bonne dextérité et minutie;
• Coordonner et organiser le travail aux champs pour les semis, les récoltes et en laboratoire avec l’équipe en place.
