Postdoc - Crop Modelling

Location: Ames, Iowa, USA

A post-doctoral position is available at Iowa State University to work on a project that integrates plant breeding and plant physiological measurements with mathematical models to predict genotypic variability in plant performance, growth and biomass production. It is expected that this work will improve our understanding of the potential of C4 plants as bioenergy crops and the underlying genotypic factors that control that potential.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Crop Physiology, Plant Biology, Crop Sciences, Agronomy or a related field at the time of appointment, experience in Crop Modeling as well as a significant record and/or promise of relevant interdisciplinary research productivity.

In addition to Crop Modelling, suitable research backgrounds may include any combination of the following areas: Plant Physiology, Cropping Systems, Biomass Crops, Meta-Analysis, and Statistics.

Excellent mathematical/numerical and presentational skills are essential.

In addition, experience with any programming languages (e.g. C/C++, Fortran, Python, R or Matlab) is highly desirable.

For additional information please contact Dr. Andy VanLoocke (andyvanl@iastate.edu), Dr. Maria Salas Fernandez (mgsalas@iastate.edu) or Dr. Fernando Miguez (femiguez@iastate.edu).
