Director of Commercial
Location: Wageningen, the Netherlands SUMMARY
Responsible for all sales and marketing activities for the Ceradis products worldwide. Particular focus on MusaCare in LATAM (field), Ceradis products in Europe (field) and development of CeraMax in the USA (seed). In addition, will manage Ceradis’ branch in Colombia.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage current and potential commercial relationships with distributors
- Present and sell Ceradis products and services to current and potential distributors
- Prepare overviews of required technical and commercial information to ensure smooth commercialization efforts (“prevent surprises”)
- Drive the delivery of this required information, develop and maintain sales and marketing materials and current product knowledge
- Regularly check progress with distributors, resolve problems as they arise
- Ensure correct product delivery
- Ensure product compliance with registration o Maintain and expand registration where needed (crop extensions), working with the Ceradis registration department
- Maintain and expand where needed contracts with tollers
- Ensure tollers production is compliant with registration and other regulations
- Oversee delivery of products and contacts with relevant Ceradis tollers
- Help grow volumes and improve Ceradis’ margins o Negotiate terms with distributors
- Develop and execute pricing and promotion strategies o Develop negotiation strategy towards end users and help distributors with insights of the purchasing process of end users
- Analyze other opportunities to grow volumes and/or margins and develop action plan to realize these
- Gather and analyze market data
- Develop and implement new business plans per product /market combination
- Prepare action plans and schedules to identify potential distributors and contact these
- Develop and maintain sales and marketing materials and current product knowledge
- Participate in marketing events such as seminars, trade shows, and telemarketing events
- Prepare presentations, proposals and sales contracts
- All other duties assigned on an ad hoc basis
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Master's Degree obtained or can operate at that thought level
- Minimum of 10 years commercial experience
- Knowledge about the crop protection and fungicides market
- Extensive experience in several key Ceradis markets (eg bananas LATAM, seed USA, vines Europe) and clear relevant technical knowledge and skills
- Proven track record in managing and growing product(s) and/or product portfolios
- Analytical skill set, strong presentation skills, peer to senior management at distributors and end users
- Ability to steer, motivate and manage teams and other people (eg consultants) working for Ceradis
- Flexible and entrepreneurial
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English and ideally in Spanish
- Ability to travel frequently to markets, customers and industry events (25-30%).
PRACTICALITIES
- Based in Wageningen (Netherlands); frequent travel can be expected
- Will report to the General Manager
