KEY DELIVERABLES:

1. The Senior Breeder - Rice Crop , India is responsible for ensuring the continuous creation of new rice hybrids that lead the market in India, South Asia and other Asian countries through implementation of advanced breeding methods. The innovative impact of continually breeding and developing the best hybrids lies at the basis of the success of Advanta’s individual country operations through the sale of seed.
2. . Success measures include:
   • Number of superior hybrids developed that are well adapted to market with increased Gross Margin.
   • No of hybrids registered at Central and State levels based on business needs.
   • Increased efficiency of the India breeding program (throughput, genetic gain made).
   • Pushing forward with integration of new breeding tools, such as molecular breeding technology into the breeding pipeline; this includes the applied implementation of new discoveries in pathology, entomology.
   • Added value traits in terms of nutrition, quality, biotic and abiotic stresses in the development of new hybrids.
   • Implementation of all approved projects as per Advanta's internal guidelines and any relevant Government regulations
   • Ensure Interfacing with the India cross functional teams - TD, Supply chain, Marketing/Business teams.
   • Maintain annual expenses of the program as per R&D crop operational Budget approved.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Lead the India based Rice breeding team in planning and establishing an effective hybrid breeding and development program with an aim of developing competitive proprietary hybrids by using new breeding methods and tools.
2. Align breeding efforts appropriately to support business strategies as defined for different market segments.
3. To work in alliance with Crop Strategy and implement all processes as per Company policy.
4. Responsible for Rice breeding - India related Capex and Operational budgets.
5. Responsible to deliver a continuous pipeline of innovative hybrids, able to generate and sustain the projected business.
6. Predetermines results to be accomplished and timelines to be met by precise and knowledgeable genetic assessment of the breeding traits, the selection process and any other technology used.
7. Actively network with public and private sectors which are active in rice breeding and building up of relations.
8. Responsible for ensuring the Company confidentiality.
9. Ensure compliance and respect for QA and ESH initiatives for the breeding and hybrid development activities.
10. Develop KRAs/KPIs and goals with team, monitor their progress and review.

BACKGROUND/ QUALIFICATION:

1. Ph.D/M.Sc. (Ag) in Genetics & Plant breeding with knowledge in related fields
2. Minimum 12-15 years of work experience in Rice breeding; 15 years preferred.
3. Breeding experience in a Commercial Seed Company is preferred
