Research Associate / Scientist

Location: Lynden, Washington, USA

Plant & Food Research combines traditional breeding with modern genomics techniques to develop better cultivars, faster. In this role, you will provide practical research support and technical leadership for our raspberry breeding program in the USA, based at Northwest Plant Company, in Lynden, Washington State.

This will include crossings, raising seed, fruit harvesting and evaluations, and disease evaluation. You will also conduct scientific research with Northwest Plant Company to develop and enhance the success of aspects of berryfruit propagation which is mainly by tissue culture.

You will have a post-graduate qualification in horticulture or plant sciences, preferably in plant breeding or genetics, or an under-graduate degree in horticulture or plant sciences and relevant practical breeding experience as a technical expert in horticulture or berry crops. You’ll have a passion for fruit crop research for the modern producer or consumer and an aptitude to develop and maintain positive business relationships with internal and external clients.
