US Sales Manager
Location: Buffalo, New York, USA Stokes Seeds is a key vegetable and flower seed distributor in the Northeastern US for several large breeder producers. With a sales team of eight in the US and seven in Canada we provide a quality product seed to commercial growers across the Northeastern US and Canada. We are seeking someone with management experience and an entrepreneurial spirit to lead our US sales team of eight. The position would be part of the company executive team responsible for the company direction and continued success. Prior experience with product branding, product positioning, and margin analysis are all highly desirable characteristics. Working directly with the commercial agriculture market in some way a definite asset.
Position requires relocation to New York State preferably the Buffalo/Rochester area.
Duties and Responsibilities.
- Coordinate the sales and marketing efforts of the company’s US operation.
- Develop US Sales Team business plan and budgets each year.
- Report to the President on sales, marketing goals, efforts and progress.
- Manage and motivate a sales force covering the North Eastern US.
- Travel with sales reps regularly and attend key trade shows.
- Approve department expenses.
- Build a working relationship with key customers.
- Coach sales team in techniques and opportunities to increase sales.
- Attend product trials and work with sales team in selecting products suitable for the market.
- Develop a working knowledge of key products.
- Work with suppliers in resolving customer complaints.
- Monitor day to day operational concerns that effect the US operation.
- Work with purchasing in forecasting product demand for the US market.
- Assist HR in understanding US employee market place (benefits, wages).

Education/Experience
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree with 3 – 5 years of experience in an agriculture related sales or marketing position.
Skills
- Proven customer relation builder and sales team leader.
- Mastered the art of clearly communicating goals and ideas to a sales team.
- Able to prioritize tasks and work in a complex environment.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently within a company plan.
