Seed Treatment Biologist

Location: Newark, Delaware, USA

DuPont is currently recruiting for a full time Seed Treatment Biologist opportunity at the Stine-Haskell Research Center in Newark, Delaware. This position resides within the Crop Protection Business.

The Seed Treatment Biologist will develop and lead seed treatment biology research programs including lab, greenhouse and field studies to identify and characterize new technology that can be developed for utility via seed treatment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement research projects, including design, analysis
  • Act as expert within a given research discipline or field and acknowledged as an authority within the research organization
  • Generate extensive biological results through a series of screens and special tests, interpret the data, provide appropriate reports, and will be responsible for recommendations about further work
  • Integrate biology with chemistry, mode of action, environmental fate, plant metabolism, formulations development, and other technologies to guide a cross functional team to superior new seed treatment product discoveries or to characterize existing opportunities
  • May also have team leader responsibilities

The position calls for active networking with DuPont regional field development specialists, regulatory specialists and marketing teams as well as strong interactions with seed industry and academic communities. Opportunities exist to participate in national and/or international meetings, publish in refereed journals and travel to field sites worldwide.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in the crop protection industry and significant direct experience in seed treatment discovery and/or development
  • Good understanding of current and evolving seed treatment practices and technology in a broad range of markets globally
  • Advanced degree in a crop protection related discipline, preferably entomology or plant pathology.
