We currently seek a Seed Resource & Quality Relay Manager for Davis to take charge of this position.
Responsibilities:
The Seed Resource Manager is responsible for analyzing and mapping inter-related processes and systems and identifying critical control points. They must develop or improve processes to increase quality and efficiency while lowering risk, and develop standard operating procedures to accurately capture and communicate the best practices for steps in a process or system. The Seed Resource Manager teaches and trains others how to use online job-related tools and leads small operational meetings to identify problems and solve issues. They perform audits to measure adoption of best practices in the business, efficacy of the current way of working and consistency in the business.
- Map critical business processes of various aspects of the business: ie breeding, seed acquisition, seed production, seed and breeding-related research, and seed shipping compliance.
- Develop RASCI charts for various processes.
- Develop accurate and easy-to-read work instructions of various processes.
- Teach and train others how to implement the improvements captured in work instructions.
- Perform occasional audits to measure compliance.
- SeedEX correspondent and point person for AMPA region.
- Lead development and implementation of best practices for business-critical issues related to the seed business. Examples of “business critical” seed-related issues include ensuring that seed (germplasm) within the business and breeding programs are:
Viable, Disease and GM contamination-free, Traceable. Freedom to operate issues are identified and understood
Seed identity and quality is acceptable. Trait claims are accurate. Seed shipping and receiving is compliant with company policies and laws. Seed is efficiently and appropriately stored
- Parent seed document management: Interface between the breeders and stock seed.
Education/experience Requirements:
- BA or BS degree with 5 years’ experience required.
- MS degree preferred
- Plant Breeding experience preferred
